Peace of Mind
Hey mama,
How’s your peace of mind? When looking at the circumstances and current events taking place in our world lately, it appears that we are in a state of chaos. Between the wars, school shootings, and more it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with despair. It can feel like we have no control over anything and that doom and gloom are inevitable.
I get it. I really do. When we look to the outside world as an indicator of how we should feel, it makes total sense why we would be sad, angry, chaotic, unhopeful, resentful, anxious, depressed, fearful and all the other things. How the hell do you find peace amongst all this mess?
I’m going to tell you something that may be hard to believe at first. You may be doubtful, and it may sound selfish. Promise to hear me out anyway. Your peace isn’t dependent upon the state of the world. You can be peaceful even when the world is not. And, if I’m being honest, we actually need you to be. This is the one thing you can change. This is how you help the world right now. Tend to your own inner garden. Work on yourself.
Mahatma Ghandi once said “We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.”
So ask yourself: Where are you at war with others or yourself? When do you attack others or yourself? When are you not acting from love? I know for me personally; I attack others when my road rage kicks in after someone cuts me off. I get angry, cuss them out, and yell. I’m at war with myself when my body very clearly tells me to stop eating cheese and I keep doing it. I’m not acting from love when I judge another or myself for something we’ve done. The chaos we see in the outer world shows up in our inner world ALL THE TIME! But we tend to look outside of ourselves demanding change in the world we see, neglecting the one thing we actually have the power to change…ourselves. As within, so without. The ancients knew that what is going on inside of us, is projected outwardly into the collective experience. We are all connected. We are all One. One of the most radical things you can do in this time is turn inwards.
In no way am I saying you’re responsible for what is going on in the world and it is undeniably wrong and painful to witness. What I am saying is you do have some power in all of this. You are not hopeless. And there is something very radical you can do. Focus on you. Act in ways that feel aligned for you. Give to charities, volunteer, serve. But I’m begging you to create practices that help to build and fortify your peace. Turn off the tv, get off of social media, stop talking to others about all the things going wrong. Meditate and pray. When you liberate yourself, you create liberation for others.
And please believe that your children are watching. When you find peace for yourself, you pass that down to them. It is one of the most unrecognized forms of generational wealth: To know peace. May that be given to you and your legacy. Ase’!
Wishing you a beautiful journey back home to yourself.
From one Viktorious Mama to another.
Much love <3

MEDITATION
Meditation is a great tool for seeing things clearly. By sitting still and breathing, you allow the fog of doubt, worry, fear, sadness, guilt, etc. to drift away (even if only for a moment) and you get glimpses of truth. You see that you are loved. You are supported. You are safe. You are healthy. You are peace. All things are working together for your good. And there is a Divine plan at work in which your highest good is taken into account.
Let’s focus more on what we want and less on what’s no longer serving us. Breathe in peace. Breath out worry. Breath in joy. Breathe out fear. Breath in trust. Breathe out doubt.
Try it out for yourself. Take some time to meditate this week, mama! Find peace within.
MANTRA
One of my favorite ways of working with affirmations is to write them down. It’s something about putting words to pen and paper. It’s like you’re signing a contract with the universe. Making it clear what you’re willing to experience now.
As we seek to find peace within, try writing down this week’s affirmation 3 times daily. Allow it to be true for you. Believe it and act accordingly. Then record all the ways in which you protect your peace throughout the week in your journal. Start studying yourself in this way. Cheer when you succeed and encourage yourself when you fall short. It’s not about being perfect. It’s just about trying. I guarantee you’ll notice a difference.
Affirmation: My peace comes from within, and I protect it at all costs.
COMMUNITY
Peace can be experienced around lighthearted and likeminded company.
Here are some upcoming community events that will give you temporary relief from the worries of the world and provide an opportunity to be in a state of joy.
You cannot journey through life alone, and it’s encouraging to be around others walking a similar path.
October is my last month teaching at Replenish Yoga & Meditation!
Since RYM played a large role in the relationships I have with many of you, I want everyone to come take one final class with me at the studio. There will be fun, food, and fellowship. Come celebrate and dance with me.
This is a mommy’s only event (no kids this time). See you there!
Let’s gather together and engage in fall fun!
On Saturday 10/28, join us for a family day at Montpelier Farms! Their fall festival is in full swing and includes: corn maze, hayrides, animals, slides, pumpkin patch, pumpkin bowling, playsets, and more!
Get your tickets now while they are still available. We are going the weekend before Halloween so it will fill up. Don’t wait too long. See you there!
It’s not too late to join us in Panama for The Viktory Lap on January 11th-15th.
This is the perfect way to start your new year with the intention of peace. You’ll get a break away from day-to-day life and retreat to an oasis where your mind, body, and spirit will be rejuvenated. You’ll learn practices to take back with you that will help you embody peace.
We’ll engage in practices such as yoga, bellydance, journaling, and sister circles to do the work. Then we’ll pair that with group excursions, spa credits, dinners, and lots of adventure to invite in more play. Think work hard, play harder!
Payment plans and double occupancy rooms are available!
