Party Time!

Mamas, does anyone else enjoy planning and hosting gatherings as much as I do? I really look forward to all that comes with party planning. From figuring out who to invite, what food to serve, decorations, and games I truly love the process. Planning and hosting events is something that really fills my cup up (though my introverted self is DRAINED by the end).

This past weekend, we celebrated Kairo’s 2nd birthday and it turned out better than I could’ve ever dreamed. Last year’s QuarONEtine birthday party was virtual because of COVID, but this year we did a cook out and had all of our family and close friends together. I’m really grateful that we were able to have it in-person this year. I appreciate platforms like Zoom which allowed us to gather from afar last year, but there’s nothing like celebrating in person.

I had been planning his party since late July, so it was nice to finally see it all come to life. We decided to do a Lego theme because he enjoys building (and destroying) things. So for a month and a half I was on a hunt for all things Lego. Etsy and Amazon were my best friends! I found Lego goodie boxes, life size Lego building blocks, Lego cake decorations, a Lego welcome sign, and a Lego backdrop. Who knew all these Lego decorations were available? My sister also made shirts for Kairo, David and I to wear that went with the theme. When I tell you I thought about every little detail….honeyyyy.

It was a kid and adult friendly party with games for everyone! The adults had a Lego building contest and the kids did Pin the Head on the Lego man and a Pinata. I find that games are great icebreakers, that even kids appreciate. They give people something to talk about, they get everyone laughing and having fun, and they help you relax. Overall, they’re great at breaking down walls. Though I’ve gotten better at starting and having conversation with people I don’t know, I always appreciate when I go to an event/party/outing and the host has us participate in a game or icebreaker. I know how much they help me, so I try to help others out too…….I also just really love a good game!

Anyway, the party was amazing and most importantly, Kairo had a GREAT time! He was talking to everyone, playing, and dancing. But how I knew he was enjoying himself was by the big smile he kept flashing. As a mama, isn’t that what we do it all for? To see a smile on our child’s face. To amplify something they enjoy. To surround them with love. I want my child to know that his life is worth celebrating, it’s ok to have fun, and you matter.

Birthdays are a really big deal to me. We each are sent here for a reason with a Divine calling and purpose over our life. We came here on a mission to share our gifts and talents. Each year is a celebration of that purpose. There is only one you, and that alone is reason to celebrate. Kairo’s purpose right now is to spread joy. He has the amazing gift of reminding everyone he meets what it’s like to smile, be happy, laugh, and feel joy. He also is here to live and experience. Which is the part of our Earth assignment we as adults tend to forget about. We forget to just to be, to experience, to live.

Reflecting on this past weekend just leaves me filled with gratitude. I’m grateful to have a sun to celebrate. I’m grateful he is loved by so many. I’m grateful for everyone who partied with us. I’m grateful for making it through year 2. I’m grateful for all the things he teaches me. I’m just grateful.

Even on the hard days, I’m grateful for the life I live.

Happiest of birthdays, my sweet sweet boy!

Until next time,

Stay ViKtorious, mama!
