Know Yourself, Mama!
Hey mama!
As I’ve held space for my clients and I to explore our solar plexus chakra this month, I noticed a big big BIG theme: KNOW THYSELF! From the birthing room to the yoga mat. From yoni steams to group events I watched this theme show up ALL month long. Even in my personal life. We have been taught to look outside ourselves for everything: new trends in clothes, advice from doctors, opinions of our parents, truths of who we are, directions on how to birth or parent our babies. The list is endless! Yet, another option exists for guidance through life, and that is your inner compass.
“Know thyself” has been the premise of most religions and ancient spiritual teachings. If we take time to study, learn, understand, and master ourselves, life opens up to us. It sounds so simple, but it requires large amounts of courage, discipline, and patience. We must learn that the body and the mind are tools of the spirit. If we do not tame them and give them constructive goals or activities, they will run our lives and cause us much suffering. There is no better choice made in life than to know yourself. The rewards are truly endless.
Let me remind you that a balanced solar plexus radiates joy, power, confidence, and courage. It allows you to shine your light in the world because not only have you accepted who you are, you understand that there is so much value in that. The world wouldn’t be the same without you. Shame, shyness, stomach issues, and nervousness may be indications that your solar plexus is in need of support. Here are a couple of ways to support it:
Associations of Solar Chakra:
Color: Yellow
Element: Fire
Body Parts: Stomach, Small Intestine, Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen
Ways of Working with Solar Plexus Chakra:
Foods: Grains, Legumes, Seeds, Yellow Fruits/Veggies, Spicy Foods
Herbs : Ginger, Calendula, Lemon Balm,
Chamomile
Oils: Ylang Ylang, Ginger, Peppermint
Crystals: Tiger’s eye, Topaz, Citrine
I strive to embody a deep sense of knowing myself so that others may see what it looks like to confidently trust yourself over anything else. I still fall prey to looking externally for validation occasionally, but I consult my Spirit first more often than not. It took years of a disciplined meditation practice, lots of introspection, studying many sacred texts, redefining God for myself, movement, and affirmations to get to a space where I can hear my inner guidance clearly. A space where I can tune out other voices and courageously follow the voice within. I see myself as the powerful being I was created to be. I’m still unlocking much of this power, but no longer do I dim my light. I’m here enjoying the journey and I would love to help you do the same!
I’ll close with a poem I wrote. Know that you are powerful and as you learn and own that power, you create a lineage of powerful beings.
