The Duality of Change

Peace mama!

I’m back in your inbox after months of being away. I apologize for the distance and for the delay. I promise I did not forget about you, I just had so very much to do. I’ve been serving mothers and children at a greater capacity. I am sharing my gifts with vigor and tenacity. Ok…enough with the rhyming

Life has been life-ing and this is the first moment I’ve had to sit down and write a newsletter. Things have changed drastically, and I’ve been doing my best to go with the flow. Are you feeling the shifts too? Here are some of the changes taking place in my life:

  1. I cut my locs off! I was asked to sacrifice something in order to receive what’s to come. I’m ready!

  2. I wrote and published a children’s chapter book called King Kairo & The Magic Crown. (purchase it here). It’s a book that awakens children to their purpose and power. May they never forget who God has called them to be in this life. And if they have, like many of us, the book can help them rediscover it. Making it a great book for the inner child of adults too *hint hint*

  3. I started a PhD. program in Women’s Spirituality that is preparing me to take my work to the next level. Studying, accessing, and leveraging the ways of the Great Mother that kept women in their power long before patriarchy, colonialism, sexism, and racism told us lies that belittled our value and role in society. I know, it’s deep…and I LOVE it! We can mother in power and raise children who are empowered.

  4. I’ve done some world traveling, hitting the countries of Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Tanzania. God has me on a mission that requires cultural emersion and understanding. My next stops include Bali and Tanzania (again). Not fully sure what’s to unfold through my journeys, but trust and believe that everything I gain will be shared with you.

  5. I started teaching yoga classes again (shoutout to those who remember the Replenish days…good times!). I teach Kemetic yoga every other Saturday with Bellydancers of Color Collective. Classes are currently held at Dragon Academy in Lanham, MD. Join me on the mat!

  6. I’ve volunteered to lead a nature homeschool group. God has me learning all the fundamentals in preparation for what is being built through me. If you know any homeschool families looking for community, send them here.

  7. I coached basketball with my sister and father. Can you say “family bonding”! It was great.

Please don’t be mistaken. these are some of the highlights of the past 7 months. We live in a world of duality, where every high is matched with an equal low. There is good in the bad, pain with the joy. But you should know by now, I’m always going to focus on the good. I never deny the bad, I just focus my attention. So here I am, sharing some of my good in hopes that it encourages you to take time to focus on how much has changed in YOUR life as well. It’s so easy to dwell on the hard things, but can you choose to see the good? Can you dwell on that?

As I continue to move through the changes and all the hard and easy things that come with it, I’m constantly reminding myself “I was made for this”. I believe you were too. Whatever is on your plate, “good” or “bad” you have what you need to get through. It’s all working for you. And God is molding you into something great.

Stay ViKtorious, Mama!
